Blackouts make listings unavailable to be booked.  This could happen for any number of reasons, including maintenance or testing how prices look on websites.  For Booking Automation users, it is essential to know how to blackout a room in case you need to make a room unavailable temporarily.

How to do it

Head to the calendar tab for the property and room you want to blackout.  Find the date you want to blackout and select its intersection with the override row.  A pop-up will appear; click the dropdown menu and select blackout.  You can also select the range of dates you can blackout the room for.

Testing with blacked out rooms

One of the most common reasons to blackout rooms is to test how prices will look on connected channels.  The price check on the calendar is the easiest way to achieve this.  Make sure that "show unavailable" is checked to see your blacked out rooms.
